Egg-Laying Breeds

Picture
We have many different breeds of chickens, the majority of which would be considered "heavy breeds" or dual-purpose birds - which means they are a bigger chicken, more calm and docile, and suitable for your freezer if/when the time comes. Some breeds are good and some are great egg-layers, ranging from 200 eggs per year for the less productive, to over 300 eggs per year for the best layers. You can build a flock based on productivity alone,  or you can mix and match a little bit to get a variety of colors, or select breeds to have many different colored eggs. There are many options based on your needs and personal preferences. We can help choose the right breeds...
